I have an idea in the works.

In a nutshell...

I want to ride to Yosemite with a group of people and make a documentary about it. 400 miles in 4-5 days, stay and camp for a couple days, take train back. This is my 2009 resolution.

I want to be there for my birthday, cinco de mayo. Come ride with me.

I would really love to start some sort of bicycle delivery service or run my own small pedicab business.

I worry about the economy though. This might not be a great time for people to be spending money on pedicab rides or having goods delivered via pedal power. Gas is cheap again which could make cycles less appealing.

I wonder how tourism will do in the upcoming months.

I wish there were more ways to make money on bicycles.

sober ride two nights ago.

my boss and friend joe started this ride and it was a blast.

we rode from the fountain to luigis via university via 30th. then we headed down to the back of the convention center where we played some footdown. i busted my fixed cog but lukily had a freewheel on the otherside to ride back.

today im going to ride down to adams or velo and check out my options. i have really been wanting to start building my dream track bike, but now i really have inspiration to do so.

some other notes.

tonight is velocults bar night at the whistlestop.

december 5th is atips bike demonstration and memorial.
the next night is the Macaframa premiere which i am stoked about. it starts at midnight at the ken.

im going to try and set up a "feliz navidad" tj ride this month.

keep riding.

Marisa Abaza from Brooklyn is taking shots of cyclists and having them write a little something about bikes in their own handwriting. It looks really neat and personable.

Check out the rest on her flickr.

"No one could have imagined that this hallmark of our glory days, the Adams Avenue Theater (3325 Adams Ave.), would metamorphose into something so random as Discount Fabrics. I don’t think it’s as humiliating as it is simply bizarre."

I know its a shitty daytime entertainment show but this interview with the Obama's really made me smile.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realised God doesn’t work that way, so I stole
one and prayed for forgiveness.

Last night was by far my most interesting Halloween ever. I started off the day getting incredibly stoned while running errands with Emily. We got some grilled cheese sandwhiches from Hamilton's and I got some new pedals and a chain for my bike.

Before my ride to Balboa Park to meet up with critical mass I stopped at trader joes. Grabbed some 2 buck chuck and high tailed it out of La Mesa. On the way there was a dude who I have seen on the trolley before, he stepped out from the sidewalk right in front of me at the last second. I jammed my legs and hit the brake. I flew over my bike and actually landed on my feet.

Later at critical mass we rode through downtown, el bario, south park, north park and hillcrest where I got off. I finished the last quarter of a bottle of wine I had been drinking the whole ride in the wholefoods parking lot. Once I was good and friendly I headed inside the house party. It was so packed in there but I had a great time overall. Most of my friends ended up there so it was a blast. Cops rolled up so anthony and I got out and started walking east on University.

On our eastern stumble we ran into many different people, most notably the drunk 80's girls on park and university. One wanted me to "make babies" with her while the other smoked and stared at anthony. We called my cousin tommy and had him pick us up at Park and El Cajon. Buenas Dias was the next stop and then home. All in all, amazing.

Ms.Winehouse was one of several at the party. This one was the best for sure. Oh, and I'm a drunk frenchman.

Pharrell says "get out and ride"

last night I dreamed of riding my bike around the city. I remember performing a handful of tricks that I have never even tried. It was probably the best dream I have had in a while. My fathers house has given me nightmares before, this was a fun change.
Happy Halloween Everyone

what can I say about love that has not been said already?

love is patient

the best lesson my grandfather ever taught we was patience. I deal with it differently from day to day when it comes to small things I want.

love has been one thing that I feel I am patient with.

some day in a foreign land I hope, a beautiful, smart and collected girl will ride into my life.

its not happening right now, and I dont think it will happen ever again in San Diego.

long day at work tomorrow, then off to check out potential home, then to a bicycle activism meeting.

great Mike Giant interview

rebel8.com

Velocult from sdfixed.com

This will be the first of many i hope. Jim Baross of the coalition will hold a meeting at the shop. he wants to talk to my customer base (generally a younger group) to educate people more on how to be active. the first meeting he will talk about all kinds of things including using the correct lingo so you can talk to people about these things and sound like you know what your talking about. there will also be a slide show.

this is an open forum where questions and comments are welcomed. if we want to start a movement is San Diego like Davis or Portland this is how its done, from the bottom-up. it all begins with the riders. lets gather and show that bike issues are important to us. lets also show Jim that advocacy is not only for the retired folk. show that this is important to the younger generations as well. lets get active. lets do protests. it starts here!

Jim is hoping for 20 or so people. lets double that! show that we really want the corrupt city government to thing about cyclists.

7pm on Thursday in the shop!

San Diego is ready for some more bicycle activism. It really is a great city to ride in as far as terrain and diversity of neighborhoods. The scene is getting big right now which means more riders are out on the road. Now is a the time to start gathering those growing numbers together in order to secure and establish an even more bicycle friendly city in the future.

This is also a great excuse and opportunity for myself to drool over the amazing bikes down in the shop.

If all goes to plan, this should be my balcony soon. Adaline and I are moving to Adams avenue in a old theater turned into a loft. rad!

Skeletal Lightning ride was amazing. Great people, great food, cheap beer. Riding around TJ was a blast, nobody really rides anything like we had down there. 14 people total went, 9 chicos y 5 chicas. We ate at the famous "Taco Bell" and had the worst solo mariachi band serenade us, I'm pretty sure he was faded. Hey just kept singing that "Ay...ay..ayay..." song.
I'm going south of the border this morning on a bicycle ride. Its a scary time right now in Mexico and so Im a little excited/nervous. everything should be fine though, once i get a giant margarita in me ill be just fine.
